Just back from the doctor

Well, the good news is it isn't cancer.
But I have a form of TB. It's not the active kind (that gets transmitted by breathing) but the doctor told me to keep an eye out for symptoms. Honestly, if I get symptoms like coughing up blood, or persistent fevers for weeks at a time, that's not something to look for, that's something to react to.
The doctor told me that the "spot" on my x-ray was nothing to be concerned about. It's just a darkening of the lungs that's not unusual for people with colds/flus to develop. It goes away with the sickness. Lucky me, I get sick at the same time I get an x-ray, and the MILITARY doctors can't tell phlegm from cancer. YOUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK, FOLKS!
So that's good news. The bad news is forever I'll have TB. It may be fatal, it may not, but I'm at the stage where it's not going to hurt me for a few decades.
(An interesting side note, if I were in the U.S. I wouldn't have been diagnosed, because the rules for doing medical checks are more loose back home. In Japan, if there's any swelling, they do diagnostics. In America, your arm has to swell up pretty big for doctors to deem it worth their time.)
Now you know. I probably won't die from this, but I'm not worried about either way.

Now I can focus on getting ready to PCS.

Bad news / good news

I got called into work today. I was supposed to have the next couple of weeks off of work to get my outprocessing stuff done before I left for Korea, but in a good turn of events, my procrastination paid off. NOW, I won't be leaving for Korea until after my class is over (at the end of April). See, I didn't turn in my follow-on assignment paperwork until way late in the game, because I was trying to stay here until my class started. Well, the call I got today, told me that because I was late in turning in my paperwork, my orders won't be ready for me until very late March. So, in one way, it was good news - I get to stay in Japan until my class, letting me stay with Vanessa for her birthday and even after. The only bad part (if I can call it that) is that I have to work for another week or so (but since I barely work as it is, it's mostly win-win).

I have packed up most of my stuff, and moved it out of Vanessa's house. Only a few toys, and the majority of my wardrobe remain. I will probably move most of that stuff out right before I leave, or have her ship it to me once I settle into Korea. I'll check with my sponsor on a mailing address, but until then, either ship things to my parents, or hold on to them until I'm in D.C.
