I'm feeling much better.
I went back to work today, and it was good to be back. I guess it helps to return to a job I enjoy, because if this were Korea, I might have milked a few more days out of my illness. Thanks to all of you who wrote, called, or prayed, wishing me better health.
I did find out today, that I am getting a new troop added to my radio section. That will help keep us on the air longer, so more people can hear our infotainment (and it will give me more time to focus on improving radio, since I can delegate some of the responsibilities that have been mine alone to bear). Right now, I'm optimistic...here's hoping it stays that way.

It's September, and that means the holidays are fast approaching. My favorite, Halloween, is just around the corner, then Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's. This will not be my first time celebrating these holidays away from my family and friends, but this year, it just feels different. Don't ask me why...maybe it's the sand. So, to help me feel closer, I'm going to ask for your help, dear readers...if you would, please leave me a comment with your holiday wish list on it. I will not publicize these comments, but it will help me speak in my favored "Love Language" of gift-giving. I had a conversation with a very close friend the other day, and this person told me that I should spend my money on my family. This is very true, but I had to remind them, that my family does not consist solely of people that share chromosomes (or a last name) with me, but extends to all of my Friends. I've decided to capitalize the word to reflect the difference between acquaintances and those that have been part of my life, shared my life, and I consider part of the family. My friends were around when I was, but my Friends were with me even when I was not around; and have stuck by me for years - often without much contact between us. My Friends can find out I'm coming to town, and we'll hang out as if I was never gone (minus the new marriages, divorces, or offspring that have come about through the years). My Friends can be counted on when I'm in need, just as they can count on me when they are. Just. Like. Family. So...FAMILY AND FRIENDS, please leave me your wish list...it will help me keep close to my family (all of you) from so far away.

Vanessa got some bad-yet-good news today concerning her job and career...but she's optimistic.

I'm going to get some rest early tonight. I'm still not at 100% and I'm still timid around food, so hopefully, getting rest tonight, will make tomorrow a better day.

Down With The Sickness...
I'm sick.
There are details in here, so you don't have to read this if you don't want.
I woke up yesterday just like any other day. I went in to work, drank a V8, did the Sunday Chaplain show, then came back to the hooch to get some rest before my long day (I typically stay late on Sundas, to prepare for the coming week). Before I went to sleep, my stomach was feeling upset, and little nauseous, but I thought getting some rest might help it blow over. I woke up in time to go to work, but the feeling wasn't gone, in fact, it was worse. I got out of bet, and ran outside, just in time to throw up. It was yellow liquid, which I attributed to the V8. Then I got another stirring in my stomach, and headed (quickly) for the bathroom. I threw up again on the way. Once I finally made it to the toilet (how do I put this gently?) I was firing yellow liquid from both barrels. I then knew it wasn't the beverege. But after the bathroom incident, I felt a little better.
So I got dressed, and ready for work. I went out, had a breath of fresh air, and started feeling ill again. So I told myself that I'd go to work, and if I still felt bad after work, I'd go to the hospital. I never got that chance. It takes about 5 minutes to walk to work, and in that time, the world faded to white. I almost blacked out, I was dizzy, and I felt drunk. Somehow, by the Grace of God, I made it on my own feet into my building, and to my office - where I told one of the young Airmen to get the keys to our station vehicle, and drive me to the hospital. We were heading out the door, when I almost fainted again...this time, my boss, and my superintendant came out, and immediately took charge, they took me to the hospital, where I got two IV's of fluid, and one of anti-nausea medicine. About an hour-and-a-half later, I was reeased, with some pills, and told to get rest.
So last night, I spent my evening in bed, and the later it got, the higher my temperature got. I peaked at 103.3 before I passed out - either from the heat, or pain. Luckily, Vanessa was online to talk to me, and made some of the night bearable. And she thinks SHE'S the lucky one...(see her blog)...
This morning when I woke up, my fever had broken, but I had a hard time keeping anything down, one way or another. I had a banana for breakfast - blech - drank some juice - ran to the bathrom - and continued the trend for most of the afternoon.
Told you it was detailed.
Now I'm feeling a little better. I'm still timid around food (Jell-O for dinner), but tomorrow is another day.
