Happy Thanksgiving!
It was a good day. Not a great day, because it is a family holiday, and I'm SO far from my loved ones. Still, the Dining Facility staff did great and put out a nice spread.
I got rather nostalgic today, so I looked back through my blog. Turns out I have exactly the same things to be thankful for, as I did the last time I posted for Thanksgiving. Family, Friends, Life & Lord...not necessarily in that order.

This year seems to have slipped by. Not all at once, but I've spent a lot of the year NOT at home. A month and a week in training, and almost half the year already in my current location. I tell you, it does make you appreciate personal time when you can't be with the one(s) you Love. Soon enough, I'll be home again, and then I hope to make up for the past many months.

R.I.P. Jackie
I got word that my aunt Jackie passed away yesterday. She was my mother's youngest sister. To tell the truth, I am a little numb. I don't know why. Jackie lived with us for a while when I was very young. I have been told stories about how she used to play Queen records to put me to sleep. Ther are also pictures of her taking me for a walk out in the Indiana snow. She built a little snow person.
When I found out, Vanessa kept asking me if I was okay. Maybe it hasn't hit (or sunken in) yet...maybe I've gotten used to fallen comerade ceremonies...maybe a lot of reasons. I just don't know.
We've known for a while that she was ill, so it's not hitting me as hard as it did when Adella left us. I know that's not fair. I'll pray for her, and for our family. That's all I know to do right now (I tried to call, but our phone lines are down [local workers cut the lines while digging a trench behind our building this afternoon] I'll try again tomorrow).
Please keep her daughter and grand daughter in your prayers. They have a lot to go through. My mom flew to Florida to help the family make arrangements. This has to be hard on her and my Godmother as well. I wish I could be there with them.
She will be missed.

I received a message from one of my stealth readers, saying I have been bashing Vanessa's former workplace too much, and that it seems unfair to this individual. While I apologize for any hurt feelings(to this individual, who I'm told wasn't involved and should feel no undeserved malice), I must point out that at no time have I ever denounced the organization as a whole (remember, I work for this organization as well), only certain individuals within it. I HAVE written in this blog, that I am happy she is away from a place that made her life miserable, but never have I blamed it on the location, or the organization. Again, it is a select group of individuals (feel free to go back and look in the archives) that have incited my ire - and for that, I will NOT apologize.
So, there you go, a brief explanation. That said; this blog will remain, as it always has been:
