Yay, another week down, and I'm that much closer to leaving here. Not that it's bad, I just miss my Beloved.
- - - -
Thank you all who have sent, are sending, or will be sending packages to me. The rest of my coworkers are jealous, because I get something every week (often several times a week) while they wait for something to arrive. I've even gotten a CARE package from an organization I don't know. "Someone" must have put my name in their databanks. Anyhoo, it's always nice to have the mail guy come by...be it a letter, or a large box. Chances are, if you've sent something, I got it: Vanessa, Mom/Dad, Mom2/Dad2, Grandma & Uncle John - I have gotten your things, and am extremely grateful for them.
Speaking of , there have been many questions asking what I want and like. To be honest, just getting something is wonderful. Again, a card, or even an email is just as nice as a box three times the size of my head (remember, I have precious little room in my quarters). But to answer the questions outright:
1) Personal Letters - these I value more than anything else, because they are words from the heart. I can't think of a more precious and meaningful gift.
2) Photos of family and friends - I like to surrund myself with those I care about, even if only the two-dimensional kind.
3) Magazines & Newspapers - I like to know what's going on inthe world, but the news channels here report mainly on the same things I see everyday.
4) Food - I have to be very careful here. I don't need foor sent to me, but for those that have been, it's appreciated - not just by me, but by everyone in the office. Those that know me, know their own specialty that I like. Keep them coming, as often as you like - just know that I have to work extra hard to not gainthe weight of such goodies.
Finally, 5) And I hesitate to even mention this...I have an amazon.com wishlist that has several gift ideas (for Christmas time, etc.). I'm not writing this expecting or hoping for anything...but people have asked, and it's a way to let you all know what I'm looking for.
That all said, I'd prefer personal stuff to trivial stuff, if you're going to send stuff at all.

No photo tonight...it's late enough already.

OK, August carepackage is in the making. Is there anything--besides BOb's to your Door--that you would like? I have seen dried fruits but don't know which you like. Also don't know what you can get there at the BX. Please include in post or in an e-mail. As to the toys, in your giant Cracker Jacks like boxes from home, can you give to the kids there or just pitch. You know why I do it. Just like the groceries, remember? Anyway, you seem to be doing okay, month one is almost over and already we have fairly good news about Vanessa. How do you feel about her leaving you for a month next summer so she and I can do the "Grand Tour"? Just a thought.I forgot to tell you that a couple of weeks ago I got a call from Martin(VinU)about the time of the anniversary. WAnted to say hi and said he'd try to call Germany. Don't know if he did but sent his greetings. Told him about Tom being here, he was a little put off that Tom didn't call him, oh well. The last bit of news he shared is that JAson is going to be a Dad again, this time a boy. NAmed after a cat they had, sorry forgot the name. That's it for now.M~

Nothing really special to report today. I woke up at 5:15, made it to work by 5:30, started my show at 6:30, wrapped up at 11:30, wrote my radio news, and wrapped up my day at 2:30. Since then, I've been in a cloud of blah this afternoon. I don't know why. Life is good, andif it weren't for the fact that Vanessa andI are separated, this would be a great assignment. I say that, but I in no way want her to come here. Luckily, soon, that will never again be a possibility.

How good/bad is it to support the local economy, if by supporting it, you may be doing something illegal? Case in point, there is a local shop just outside base, butwithin the walls of the base security that sells DVDs of movies either recently released in theaters, or before the DVD is avalable for purchase. Is it unethical to buy a video from this store? I ask, because I saw quite a few people in there buing them, with no thought as to the studios. The shop itself is practically condoned by the US military, since they let the owner operate within base security. I don't know, maybe it's the integrity thing popping up. AND, I feel a little hypocritical, because I've watched movies that have been downloaded (when I was in Wisconsin, I saw Iron Man, because we weren't allowed to go to the theater)- but later paid to see he movie in a theater.
Just a thought that was on my mind.

Without much else to say, I'll post a picture, and be off to bed. Todays pic...my office, I mean, my studio.

Back...Darn Computer Problems
I'm sorry it's been so long since I updated, nd I know some of you had no idea what happened, or if I was even okay, so here's my attempt to explain my absence.
Well, as most of you know, it's pretty hot where I am, and indoors, it gets hotter sometimes than it does outside. And apparently, if you leave your computer plugged in, the AC plug that connects from the wall socket to your computer can overheat. That's exactly what happened to my computer, and the power cord broke- right in the middle of my birthday blog. Talk abot timing!!! So I ordered a new part, and it came in the mail today. Yippie! I'm back, and blogging.

Things have changed a little since my last posting. I'm still doing the same job, but now I'm the morning show host, and the sole radio DJ for our station. We had to cut back on radio manning, to give our news team more bodies. So that means, I work from 6:30am to 2:30pm, 5 hours of that is live radio, and the other three are spent preparing for the next day.
Right now, I'm doing okay with it. I mean, I adore doing radio, so they could tell me to do 12 hours, and I wouldn't put up muchof a fight. I'm even starting to get in touch with people and companies to try and get some free stuff to give away on the air. I figure the service members here have a limited PX (that's the main store around here), so offering up stuff like computer accessories, gadgets, and other free stuff, can only raise morale, and help our station get and keep more listeners. Consequently, if you know of anyplace that gives away free stuff (especially to military), please let me know, or have them send me some stuff I can give away. I'm looking into companies like Sony, Apple, and JVC, but anything will do.

Getting to talk to Vanessa is a great treat during my day. She calls me just about every morning, and it makes the day that much sweeter. I can only receve calls from government phones, so she goes in to work a little early, just to talk for a little while before her day starts. I'm so blessed to have her in my life. And now that my computer is back up, I get the chance to talk to her online (as well as many other friends that I have missed talking to) just about every evening. It does help me stay grounded, and keeps my spirits up.
- - - -
Speaking of Vanessa, her spirits are high as well, because she got some good news about her medical separation. Turns out, she may be a civilian as early as October. Here's hoping. I know your prayers helped with htat, and for them, I thank all of you (even if you didn't pray for it, you still might have secretly hoped it would happen).

I still haven't gotten the hang of a set schedule yet, so sometimes I go to bed around 3am, andothers, I hop into the sack right after work for a nap. I did that yestersay, and slept from 4pm to 5am. Maybeit had somehting to do with not sleeping at all Sunday. Still, it felt refreshing, and even at the late hour I'm awake now, I feel wide awake. I think I really do have some sort of insomnia, but then, I've been this way for a long time, and never thought about it. Maybe I'm just nocturnal, as I DO tend to get tired inthe day time, but as soon as the sun drops toward the horizon, no matter how tired I was, I suddenly get aburst of energy, and end up staying awake all night again.
- - - -
I've been taking photos while my computer was out. I will continue to post them as I can. Today's is of some B-Huts (houses) and the mountains behind them in the distance. The base I'm at sits in a valley, surrounded by peaks. This is from the view just outside my office - notice the barbed, and razor wire coils.

- - - -
And that does it for this evening. It's good to be back. I hope things stay this way.
