Down With The Sickness...

I'm sick.
There are details in here, so you don't have to read this if you don't want.

I woke up yesterday just like any other day. I went in to work, drank a V8, did the Sunday Chaplain show, then came back to the hooch to get some rest before my long day (I typically stay late on Sundas, to prepare for the coming week). Before I went to sleep, my stomach was feeling upset, and little nauseous, but I thought getting some rest might help it blow over. I woke up in time to go to work, but the feeling wasn't gone, in fact, it was worse. I got out of bet, and ran outside, just in time to throw up. It was yellow liquid, which I attributed to the V8. Then I got another stirring in my stomach, and headed (quickly) for the bathroom. I threw up again on the way. Once I finally made it to the toilet (how do I put this gently?) I was firing yellow liquid from both barrels. I then knew it wasn't the beverege. But after the bathroom incident, I felt a little better.
So I got dressed, and ready for work. I went out, had a breath of fresh air, and started feeling ill again. So I told myself that I'd go to work, and if I still felt bad after work, I'd go to the hospital. I never got that chance. It takes about 5 minutes to walk to work, and in that time, the world faded to white. I almost blacked out, I was dizzy, and I felt drunk. Somehow, by the Grace of God, I made it on my own feet into my building, and to my office - where I told one of the young Airmen to get the keys to our station vehicle, and drive me to the hospital. We were heading out the door, when I almost fainted again...this time, my boss, and my superintendant came out, and immediately took charge, they took me to the hospital, where I got two IV's of fluid, and one of anti-nausea medicine. About an hour-and-a-half later, I was reeased, with some pills, and told to get rest.
So last night, I spent my evening in bed, and the later it got, the higher my temperature got. I peaked at 103.3 before I passed out - either from the heat, or pain. Luckily, Vanessa was online to talk to me, and made some of the night bearable. And she thinks SHE'S the lucky one...(see her blog)...
This morning when I woke up, my fever had broken, but I had a hard time keeping anything down, one way or another. I had a banana for breakfast - blech - drank some juice - ran to the bathrom - and continued the trend for most of the afternoon.

Told you it was detailed.

Now I'm feeling a little better. I'm still timid around food (Jell-O for dinner), but tomorrow is another day.

That's all I have to tell, just keeping you informed...

B.F.G.

As I've written in my blog before, the military trains us how to use a wide array of weaponry to protect and defend ourselves. Each year, I go through qualifications on the M-16 rifle, and the M-9 pistol. As you've read, I also recently learned how to use hand grenades, claymore mines, and heavy machine guns.

Now, however, there is a new weapon in my arsenal. I got it just the other day, and I must say, of all the guns I've fired, this one impresses me the most. It's not much for stopping power, but it looks impressive as all get out. It is fully automatic, chain-fed, shoulder or hand fired, and is pretty much the top of the line for the available weapons of its kind on the market. What is this exciting new piece of technology you ask? Well, I'm glad you did...

Introducing the new Vulcan EBF-25.

Okay, okay, so it's a toy gun...but LOOK AT THAT TOY GUN!!! For one thing, it's a pretty big gun (about as long as my leg from waist to ankle). Second, it has a tripod. Let me say it again. Tripod. You know it's one mean piece of artillery if it needs to be stabilized. Third and fourthly, it is chain-fed. You can't see the chain, or the attached ammo box that it fits in in this photo, but rest assured, it makes the gun look even more awesome-awesomer-awesomerest!

Now, of course, I'm kidding around here, but it is a pretty neat weapon if your office has "foam dart" wars. One of the maintainers at our office got one in, and he was shooting everyone. SO, I retaliated...with THIS! I am now the undisputed dart gun champion. I keep it in my radio studio as both a trophy, and as a deterrent to further dart invaders. I call it my station defense system.

Plus, if I have to shoot someone...better with a non-deadly foam dart, than a weapon of mass-destruction.

Vanessa is back! I missed her for four long days. Anyway, she'll tell you all about it on her blog.
