Back To Work...

It has been a good reajustment time these past few weeks. I have gotten a little better at sleeping through the night (still hard more than a hlf-hour at a time, or to sleep past 5 or 6 a.m. but I'm getting better at it).

But now it's time to go back to work. I'm looking forward to it a little. To see what has changed while I was away. But I feel a little trepidation at the same idea. Not knowing the new stuff that might have come up in my absence leaves me timid...shaken, but not stirred. I know it will all be fine, and then just as I get settled in to things, they'll change again.

Now to close, and end on an up note...a joke told to me by one of my "sisters" in Afghanistan.

Q: What do you call a fish with no eyes?

A: fsh.

Her young son told her that joke. I think it's cute.

Happy New Year!

Happy 2009!

It's been an on-again-off-again 2008. There were ups and downs for my Family and Friends alike. There have been births, deaths, togetherness, distances, moments of pain and suffering, and times of joyful jubilation. I don't really have much to add, you can check the archives to find out more. All I have left to write, is I hope 2009 will bring more good than bad, more joy than pain, and more togetherness for the whole world.

OH YEAH! I forgot to mention that I'm back in Germany. My last post was designed to throw people off, so I could surprise Vanessa when I came home. I had orchestrated a great cover story, and had her believing that I was going to be home in January...however...
Some people just can't seem to follow directions, or keep a secret, and so, she found out. I was a little - nay a LOT - upset when I first found out, but once I finally got home, and saw her staning at the terminal waiting for me, it all went away. I was so hapy to see her, that my mind went blank (again...see the Korea incident) and at first I gave her a small hug and moved away...only after it hit me that I was home, did I go back and really experience a real homecoming moment.

So I'm back in Germany, safe and sound, and not much worse for wear. I will never forget my time while deployed, nor the many people I met and grew fond of. I added to my extended family three very important people that will always have a place in my heart.

I'm not sleeping, but everyone tells me that will go away with time......we'll see.
