And so it begins...

Today was our first real day of training. Well, okay, not a real first day, but we DID get to line up in formations, march to our inprocessing center, go through a couple hours of briefings, line back up and double-time march (jog) back to our dormatory.

I live in a wonderful little room that houses around 30 guys - with three latrines, two urinals, and three showers. So getting ready in the morning will take some planning. We are from all over the world: Germany, Italy, Japan, and the USA. So far, it's okay, and we're pretty much all getting along. I say that, because the stressfull stuff hasn't started yet. We'll se how it goes once the "fit hits the shan."

It's pretty cold here. The day I got here was 70 degrees at 6pm, but this morning it snowed, and has been just above freezing all day. I don't know how they expect us to prepare for a place that right now is 138 degrees in the shade when we're training with cold weather gear on. Maybe there's a secret I don't know about. I think I'll investigate. :)

From now on, I'll be writing about the training I'm doing (in as generic terms as possible) so you all can join in on the fun.

Oh, to answer the comment from Mom, we will not get any leave while in training. We are going strong from now until graduaion. AND, Sheboygan is close, but I can't leave the base, so it's pretty moot...but if this is the weather I can expect, I'll have to get a winter home somewhere much more southern.
