sad...

hi. i'm aurora.

i took over my daddy's blog to let you out there know that he will be leaving very soon to go to a warm, dry place far, far away. i am sad, but mommy says that with something called "tek-na-lo-jee" we will be able to talk as much as possible. i hope so. because i will miss him until he comes back. i hope he remembers me. maybe we can send him stuff like pictures and letters to keep him happy and thinking of us while he is away.

High Holy Days

It's been a couple of weeks since I last posted, but I have a good excuse. I've been waiting for the following photos. As you may or may not know, I was blessed with the awesome opportunity to be in Israel during what Christians call, "Holy Week," and those of the Jewish faith call "Passover." I was there to do my work, but the trip afforded me the chance to travel a little bit, and one of the best experiences, I'd say of my life, was being in Jerusalem on Good Friday (for those who share my beliefs, it's the Friday before Easter Sunday - in remembrance of the day Christ died for our sins).

I will keep my commentary down to a minimum, and let the photos speak for themselves...

The Flag of Israel

Me in front of the Damascus Gate

The modern city of Jerusalem (outside the walls)

The Mount of Olives

The Wailing Wall, The Dome of the Rock, the Tower of King David, and the Church of the Ascension

A typical street on a not-so-typical day (bottom right)

The 3rd Station of the Cross: Jesus falls for the first time.
THIS IS WHERE IT HAPPENED!

There was a reenactment in which an actor walked the streets in the garb and bearing the cross and wounds of Christ. The shot is shaky because he crowds were all trying to get a look at - or touch the cross.

A very moving experience...I wept openly.

Outside the walls

Saying goodbye to the Holy City.
